College application essay is a great chance for a future student to streamline the process of application like some sort of an Olympic swimming suit. As far as personal statement goes, it means producing one essay instead of many. In this article we provide you with several basic tips on how to generate your personal statement. On the one hand, you’ve got millions of essay topic choices, on the other hand tons of choices usually do not make things clearer (have you ever tried to find at least something good on the 678 channel?). Here are some general tips on how to show yourself from the right perspective.
Before you actually start working on a “pick-me” essay, reveal your life philosophy. If the task seems pretty nightmarish for you, create a list of a bunch of things that are the most important for you in the whole world (primitive, but still…) that you could expressively glean in a conversation, on paper, over a cup of coffee, etc. for a very long time. Make sure to include events, ideas, people, things, places, issues, etc. – everything that contributes to your life approach.
Proceed to your grandiose future plans. Close your eyes and try to imagine yourself, career wise, for example, 5 or even 10 years from now. Choose three or four specific goals you’d like to accomplish within a certain period of time. Are you done with them in your imagine-like future? Explain in an application essay why you’ve chosen those goals and whether they’re somehow related to one another. Give a general and brief explanation of how you hope to achieve in the future what you’re planning right now.
Be original but do not overact! Too many application essays are written on the basis of the very same themes. For instance, instead of portraying yourself as a victim, try to concentrate on how you got used to overcome hard-co-cope-with situations. What you should always remember is the following – you’re not running for presidential elections or Peace Corps so relax and do your best to avoid providing your solutions to global hunger and peace. Keep in mind that what may really bother you will 100% bother everyone else. As you work on your college application essay, never stop asking yourself – would you still be interested in reading it further?
